Oranges
Fruity greetings from Greece - oranges from Kalamata
Directly from the sunny south of Greece, we now offer a real slice of Mediterranean joie de vivre: hand-picked oranges from Kalamata. The family garden of our friend Amadeus is located in the Kalamata region, an area known not only for its excellent olives and crystal-clear sea, but also for citrus fruits. Very close to the coast, where the mild climate and fertile soil create ideal conditions, the trees grow in perfect conditions. The family garden is currently undergoing organic certification. We are not yet officially allowed to sell the oranges as "organic goods". However, the garden has always been cultivated organically and naturally.
For decades, selling the fine fruit was not profitable for the family. The garden was only used for their own needs and most of the oranges and lemons remained on the trees. This year, for the first time, Amadeus and a team of helpers set about harvesting the juicy, ripe fruit from the trees that Amadeus' great-grandfather once planted. There are around 100 trees in total, of which around 80 are orange trees and the rest are lemon trees. We are delighted to be able to offer these citrus fruits exclusively in our store!
The oranges come from three different varieties, which differ in size and fleshiness, but have one thing in common: their unique taste. Fruity, fleshy and particularly juicy - these oranges are a real taste sensation. We supply the varieties mixed so that you can enjoy a variety of Kalamata oranges to the full.
